At the invitation of the School of Foreign Studies of Jilin University, Professor Liu Hong, President of Dalian University of Foreign Languages gave an online lecture entitled “Research on Russian Language Consciousness” for teachers and students of the Russian Department at 18:30 on May 8, 2021 via Tencent Meeting. The lecture was hosted by Professor Liu Zuoyan of the Russian Department.
In this lecture, Professor Liu Hong mainly talked about cross-cultural communication research in Russia, ethnic psychology linguistics and language consciousness, research on language consciousness image, language consciousness image in cross-cultural communication and the “Crimea” of language consciousness image. She introduced two periods of robust and intense cross-cultural communication activities in Russian history, namely the reigns of Peter the Great and Catherine II. She also provided a general and systematic explanation of the study of cross-cultural communication. Professor Liu Hong analyzed the relationship between linguistics of ethnic psychology and language consciousness. Through vivid examples, she introduced to the students the problem of language consciousness image and linked it with cross-cultural communication. She interpreted the historical origin and modern cognition of the “Crimea” of language consciousness image through presenting real-life examples. At the end of the lecture, Professor Liu Hong put forward some suggestions to help the students with their study.
During the two-hour lecture, the teachers and students listened attentively and interacted actively. The atmosphere was lively and the lecture was a complete success.
