Upon the invitation of the College of Foreign Languages, Jilin University, Professor Petrovsky, the vice chairman of the Academic Council of Institute of Far East Studies (IFES), Russian Academy of Science (RAS), paid a visit and gave a series of lectures during the two weeks from May 1st to 12th.
On the afternoon of May 11, Professor Zhou Yifu, Dean of College of Foreign Languages, met with Petrovsky, and the two parties had a hot discussion on further cooperations and studies in the fields of regional sciences, collective cultivation for talents, and the co-host of academic seminars. Also, they reached an agreement on the joint-efforts in cooperative mechanism in the near future. Both parties expressed the mutual wish to further strengthen the communication and cooperation in related areas. Professor Liu Zuoyan, Vice Dean, also attended the meeting.
Institute of Far East Studies, founded in 1966, is one of the leading institutes in Russian Academy of Sciences. It conducts research work on the former Soviet Union and Russia's relationships with China, Japan and Korean Peninsula, and the development in economy, history, philosophy and culture in he above-mentioned countries. This institute has a significant influence on Russia and the international community.
